NASA’s carbon‑capture system, originally built for Martian habitats, was used to carbonate beer at a craft brewery in Portland, Oregon, on March 12. The membrane‑based technology extracts CO₂ from ambient air and injects it into the beer, producing a natural bubble profile. The pilot, run by NASA’s Advanced Technology Office and the brewery, cut the brewery’s CO₂ cylinder use by 30% and lowered costs by about $5,000.
